This is a thank you my kids put together to thank those who have been generous enough to donate books and money for books to our classroom.

Dr. Seuss' Birthday
In an effort to reach out to us from the office more, our principal came in to read a Dr. Seuss classic to us for Read Across America.
If you notice the extra chairs at the back of the room, we had potential funders of TFA visit us that day as well. They watched us track our progress on our class charts and saw some of math.
Reader's Workshop Projects
Students take the opportunity to present their reader's workshop projects to their families at family dinner. During family dinner, families come in the evening and bring food potluck style to eat together in the classroom.

Kid Quotes
CR: "You look like a biker chick when you wear your jacket
AB: "Ms. V you tell me...if a book is all about one person, it's boring, you have made only a little connections but lame ones...would you abandon it?"
Playing Scrabble Slam...RG: "That is bad juju right there. That was the worst card in the deck!"
YB went home last night and asked her family more information about a tiny little story we read in class. Gotta love it!

Reading Literature
Watching one of Ms. Wright's students ask MC how to set up a reading study on American presidents during war time. This is what all 4th graders deserve to be doing.

Staying innocent
We are listening to a Dora The Explorer song (Bate, Bate, Chocolate) during morning work. The song was requested by MC. I love that my kids this year aren't jaded and trying to act older than they are.
